Hey BZF fans

All of you are well aware that we love to keep you up-to-date with all the latest news surrounding the impending zombie apocalypse.  Now don’t get too excited just yet, I haven’t noticed a marked increase in reports of bite victims but I do want to share some news about a hot little project called ‘Super Zero’.

You all have literally less than 20 hours to get on board so listen up!  Super Zero is the story of a geeky, terminally ill teen who goes from utter insignificance to becoming humanity's last hope for survival after the undead take over the planet!

It’s a film that fuses sci-fi/horror with comic book-inspired action and irreverent comedy.  Also this kid crafts insane weapons to kill zombies…lots and lots of zombies!

I don’t know about you guys but as a huge consumer of zombie films, the idea of this movie gives me the tingles all over, sorry TMI!  Regardless, Writer and Director of Super Zero Mitch Cohen (who is also a big BZF fan) has asked us to share the love and spread the word for this very worthy project.

Pulse Racing VS Flatline

Greetings BZF babes, in past blogs I have brought your attention to some up-coming zombie sequels and quite frankly this trend does not seem to be slowing down.  So I have decided to keep you all up to date on a regular basis about new announcements, trailers and even rumours regarding projects in the pipeline.  I also thought I would give these sequels in the making a Mr Vitamin G rating and let you know if it gets my pulse racing or if it gives me a total flatline.

Resident Evil 6 – OK I have to admit that I totally heart Alice and all 5 instalments of this franchise, sure number 5 went a bit off the rails but I have faith in the team that have been there from the beginning to bring home an action packed finale to the Alice saga.  This definitely gets my pulse racing!

 

Day of the Dead – The original Romero version was released in 1985 and there was a half-baked straight to DVD remake in 2009.  I’m sorry for not having faith in this project but the same team behind the 2009 version are going in for another stab and I seriously doubt they are planning to inject the social commentary and political undertones that make the Romero movies a bite above the rest.  This is an easy one for me – Flatline!

 

 

World War Z Parts 2 and 3 – Maybe I’m still riding the wave of excitement from the first film, or maybe I want to see how they can pull out two more films while continuing to deviate from the source material of the novel.  Either way I can’t wait to see more ‘zombie mountains’ and chattering teeth, it’s safe to say my pulse is racing!

 

 

 

28 Months Later – The previous two instalments of this franchise where extremely strong and proved that you really can bring in-depth storylines and characters into the zombie genre.  It would be fascinating to journey basically 2 years into the future from where part 2 finished up and see the long-termeffects of the Rage virus.  Unfortunately, Danny Boyle (director of the first film) feels the impact of a third entry would be lost due to the high concentration of zombie films at the moment.  Despite this, my pulse is still racing!

 

Bring It On 6 – Alright so zombies have nothing to do with Bring It On, but wouldn’t you love to see some cheerleaders being eaten by zombies while they shake their pom poms?  Let’s be honest, zombies would be the only thing that would save this franchise!  Yep you guessed it, this project would definitely get my heart racing lol!

Apocalypse Hal - Beef Jerky

It was good to visit mum. She was raised on a farm and so likes to have a veggie garden, chickens, rainwater tanks and a wood stove. And there is nothing better than waking up on a chilly morning to the smell of woodsmoke, coffee brewing and beef jerky drying overnight in the oven.

Jerky is easy to make so why not try a Bundaberg rum and coke version. I stole the recipe from my nephew.

I have no idea why Bundaberg rum features a polar bear. I lived for many a year in Bundaberg as a teenager and never saw one.

And yes zombie jerky exists, Harcos Labs already does it. Check out their website for some interesting zombie novelties.

BZF Book Club!

That’s right BZF fans, this week we are starting a book club!!  Move over Oprah, as we present a book with real bite – literally!  This week’s book was recommended to me by Miss BMK, a good friend from work, so without further delay I present to you The Very Hungry Zombie and yes this is a parody of the famous children’s book The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

For those of you who don’t know, the original book has pre-eaten holes in the pages as the reader learns about the days of the week, the food that is eaten and the stages of a butterfly’s life.  Things aren’t quite so pretty in the gory version, as the zombie embarks on an all human degustation  from Sunday to Monday, feasting on astronauts, rock stars and football players just to name a few.

The artwork is represented in the same style of the original version and serves as a wonderful contrast between the cute zombie and the demise of his unlucky lunch dates.  There is also a great educational/nutritional value to be had for any young zombies out there, concerned with their daily protein intake.  Each day covers multiple body parts and we all learn the crème de la crème of a zombies diet BRAINS!!!!

 

 

Overall, I found The Very Hungry Zombie a real page turner and I definitely agree with the authors warning on the cover “not for human children”.  The message that spoke to me most however was who gets eaten on which day of the week - I will certainly be out of sight on clown Tuesdays.

Apocalypse Hal - Yowies

Back from Queensland but despite the rumours, BZF was unable to locate any zombies. I put it down to a rogue yowie rather than the beginning of a zombie outbreak.

Which raises an important point - know your monsters!

Yowies are the Aussie version of the Sasquatch or Bigfoot. When I was a teenager, I would go on camping trips with my friends looking for any possible evidence of the critters. They seem to favour the warmer climate of Queensland but they have been seen further south, including one spotted in the suburbs of Canberra.

Canberra is also the base for one of Australia's great cryptonaturalists, Tim the Yowie Man. He has wrestled with many a strange creature including Cadbury chocolates. Yes they tried to take his name away when they launched a range of Yowie chocolates and toys in the late 90s (that's one of them in the comic intro). So it came down to a battle royale at the Trade Mark Office when Tim arrived in a funeral hearse and lawyers probably got involved. Tim got to keep his name and Yowie chocolates are a thing of the past.

A while back we posted Bad day at the office? But I was never happy with the background and finally the right idea came along. So here it is again.

Bunnies Galore

Hey there BZF peeps, so occasionally we like to blog about our furry little woodland friends, the always cute and forever wise Bunny!  I am dedicating this week’s entire entry to this beloved creature (and part time zombie slayer) to highlight the importance and value this small compact companion brings to the world.

Let’s start with ‘Zombie Demon Bunnies From Hell’ a fake trailer that really should be made into a full feature, especially with a title like that!  Imagine Pet Cemetery mixed with Scream and a dash of The Night of the Living Dead and you have yourself a whole new zombie sub-genre!

 

If you’ve been reading the news lately you may have heard about ‘The World’s Scariest Rabbit’.  Not much is known about where this feral fur ball came from, but scientists have stated that the unusual growth of tumours around its head has never been seen before let alone by a pair of youngsters who managed to capture some video footage which you can see here.  Now, part of me feels bad for this little fellow, but then part of me wonders if this is an intentional plot so he can go on a mass biting rampage and begin the apocalypse!

 

From the scary to the down-right cute and slightly disturbing ‘Rabbit Zombie attack’.  Eh?  I hear you say – this is a video I have added to my youtube funnies list, purely because it is footage of super cute bunnies that has been re-dubbed by someone with an appreciation for my twisted sense of humour.  Enjoy!

Bunny Invasion 2 would have been suited to my games post – but this abomination is an online adventure that is only saved by some funny dialog.  I’m not going to beat around the bush, this is a very basic game about some people stuck in a bar who find out that bunnies have gathered in their millions with the intent of annihilating the human race.  The gameplay involves your principle character shooting bunnies from the rooftop of the bar before they fire poop grenades from their bottoms – no joke…  Only check this out if you’re more brain dead than a zombie after an Ashlee Simpson concert.

It is always a pleasure to pay respect to one of the key players in this blog and we should remember under that cute and fuzzy appearance, there is a mastermind capable of more than we could ever imagine!!
